From the Airport / Johannesburg

From O.R. Tambo International Airport / Johannesburg
The journey from the airport to Mo’s Place should take approximately half an hour in normal traffic conditions. Leave the Airport on the R24 to Johannesburg. Drive for 12km past the Barbara Road offramp and Edenvale Road/Germiston offramps. Take the left split following M2 Johannesburg / Durban / Kimberley. After 1km, pass van Buuren Road offramp. After a further 2.5km keep left following M2 Germiston / Johannesburg. After 0.5km, keep right following M2 Johannesburg. Follow M2 City signs passing offramps to Cleveland Road, Benrose, Maritzburg Street, Heidelburg Road, Harrow Road and Rissik Street. The city is on your right hand side. Approximately 10km after joining M2 take left split following M1 Sandton / Pretoria. Go through double-decker highway, passing Carr Street and Smit Street offramps, After approximately 3km, take M55 Empire Road offramp. Slip left before the traffic lights following M55 Auckland Park. Drive 500m, slip left following the M71 Emmarentia. Pass Milpark Holiday Inn on the left then Milpark Hospital on the right. Go through S-bends. At the 1st traffic light, go straight crossing over Judith Road. 600m, 2 nd traffic light (Wimpy on the left) go straight. Drive 800m, at the 3rd traffic light, go straight crossing over The Braids Road. Drive another 400m, 4th traffic light (Animal Hospital on the right), turn right into Muirfield Road. Mo’s Place is the 2nd house on the left, number 29. There are two bells at the entrance to the driveway – press both.

From Durban to Mo’s Place

The journey takes between 5½ and 6 hours. There are three toll roads, which amount to approximately R80-00. There are several petrol stations along the way – the best is the 1-Stop in Harrismith, which also approximately half-way between Durban and Johannesburg. Here you will also find a good selection of restaurants and take-away outlets such as Wimpy (hamburgers) and Nando’s (chicken). Try to avoid entering Johannesburg between 16h00 and 18h00, as this is rush hour traffic and can be quite overwhelming for people who are unfamiliar with the city. Take N3 from Durban, past Pietermaritzburg towards Johannesburg. From Harrismith keep on the N3 (north) towards Johannesburg. On approach to Johannesburg (after Alberton), DON”T take N17 toll road to Johannesburg but rather follow N3 signs to Pretoria. From here it should take you approximately ½ hour to Mo’s Place. Pass big PPC cement factory on left side and shortly thereafter take left offramp/fork signposted M2 to Johannesburg. Travel on M2 with city on your right – pass several offramps for approx 10km and then take the left fork signposted M1 to Pretoria and go through double-decker highway. Pass Carr Street and Smit Street offramps and then take R55 Empire Road offramp and keep left at slip road just before traffic lights following sign to R55 Auckland Park. Travel 500m and take left slip signposted M71 Emmarentia. Go over flyover (Milpark Holiday Inn on the left then Milpark Hospital on the right), through S-bends and at first traffic light go straight crossing over Judith Road. 600m, 2 nd traffic light (Wimpy on the left) go straight. 800m, 3 rd traffic light crosses The Braids Road – keep straight. 400m, 4 th traffic light is Muirfield Road (Animal Hospital on right corner) – turn right and Mo’s Place is the second house on the left – number 29. The bell is at the driveway entrance.



From Cape Town to Mo’s Place

From Cape Town
The journey takes between 12 and 13 hours. There are three or four toll gates along the way, which amount to approximately R90-00 in total. There are several petrol stations along the way – good places to fill up are Beaufort West, Colesburg and Bloemfontein (you will need to fill up 3 times during the trip). Use the Engen 1-Stops that you see along the way. If you want to do the journey over two days, Colesburg is a good place to spend a night as it is approximately ½ way (not much to do in the small town however). Try to avoid entering Johannesburg between 16h00 and 18h00, as this is rush hour traffic and can be quite overwhelming for people who are unfamiliar with the city. Leave Cape Town on the N1 to Johannesburg. You stay on this road all the way to Johannesburg. The last toll gate is the Grasmere Plaza – at this point you are approximately 45 minutes from Mo’s Place. After the toll gate you will pass the Golden Highway offramp and shortly thereafter you follow the sign to N12 Witbank/M1 Johannesburg. Then follow M1 Johannesburg and pass under the highway. After approximately 1km, veer left following the sign M1 Johannesburg. Pass the Xavier Street and Booysens offramps. Follow M1 Pretoria, then M1 Pretoria North. Go through the lower level double-decker highway. Pass Carr Street and Smit Street offramps. Take the R55 Empire Road offramp. Slip left before the traffic lights following R55 Auckland Park. 500m, slip left following M71 Emmarentia. Pass Milpark Holiday Inn on the left then Milpark Hospital on the right. Go through
S-bends to 1 st traffic light and go straight crossing over Judith Road. 600m, 2 nd traffic light (Wimpy on the left) – go straight. 800m, 3 rd traffic light (crossing over The Braids Road) – go straight. 400m, 4 th traffic light (Animal Hospital on the right) – turn right into Muirfield Road. Mo’s Place is number 29, second house on the left. There are 2 bells at the entrance to the driveway – press both.
